Job Description

The Human Resources and Labor Relations Administrator role at Utah Transit Authority supports employees and union representatives through administrative, operational, and technical HR and labor relations work. This onsite position in Salt Lake City offers robust benefits, wellness support, and training for long-term growth.

What you’ll do

You will provide customer-focused support as a resource for employees, managers, supervisors, and union representatives. Your work includes responding to inquiries, coordinating labor relations activities, maintaining records, supporting investigations, and assisting with the administration of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), HR programs, and HR processes. You will also help ensure day-to-day HR and labor relations operations run smoothly alongside the HR Business Partner and Labor Relations functions.

  • Provide administrative, operational, and technical support to HR Business Partner and Labor Relations functions, including recordkeeping and support for investigations.
  • Assist with grievance administration and support employee relations matters under the direction of the Manager of Human Resources.
  • Support labor relations tracking and reporting, onboarding coordination, and leave and accommodation processes.
  • Coordinate meetings and communications related to HR and labor relations initiatives.
  • Research, compile information, and prepare written summaries and reports while maintaining confidential records.
  • Support implementation of human resources and labor relations initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

What you bring

  • Three years progressively responsible experience in human resources, public administration and/or labor relations.
  • General knowledge of labor agreements and labor laws, including federal and state employment laws and regulations and CBA provisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources Management/Administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate across the organization an understanding of CBA provisions.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including gathering facts, identifying root causes, and providing written summaries aligned with the CBA and policies.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations, including managing conflict and delivering difficult messages.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively through planning, prioritizing, organizing, and follow-through.
  • Working knowledge of PC-based software in a Windows environment, with intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Emotional self-regulation and high emotional intelligence to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics.
  • Conflict resolution skills developed through tact, diplomacy, and fairness in sensitive situations.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
