Human Resources Business Partner
Job Description
El Super offers an onsite Human Resources Business Partner role based in Commerce, CA. This position supports stores within an assigned region and requires travel within that region. You will oversee the operational HR function, including staffing, training, employee relations, performance management, and compensation. The role carries a starting salary of $74,000 per year and presents opportunities to influence regional HR programs and leadership development.
Responsibilities
- Stay current on state and federal HR laws.
- Lead the development and rollout of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain a comprehensive HR Operations process manual for internal use and training.
- Offer guidance and counsel to stores as a trusted partner.
- Advise associates and management on issue resolution.
- Apply policies to performance, identify gaps, document deficiencies, and help create improvement plans.
- Coordinate with Regional Directors to assess management staffing needs.
- Partner with Regional Directors and the Sr. Human Resources Manager to identify next level leaders and build a leadership pool.
- Review associate and management performance evaluations for corporate.
- Identify development needs for management and coordinators; recommend training.
- Collaborate with Learning and Development to identify and develop external candidates for leadership positions.
- Investigate associate grievances and harassment complaints and make recommendations for resolution.
- Investigate and respond to EEOC charges.
- Conduct periodic surveys with associates, clarify misunderstandings, and address concerns.
- Attend unemployment hearings with Corporate Managers and Store Directors as needed.
- Process pay evaluations for Corporate and Stores as needed.
- Process expense reports for the Human Resources Operations department.
- Participate in company-wide communication initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a business related area.
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources.
- PHR certification preferred.
- Spanish is a plus.
- Experience investigating and responding to EEOC charges.
- Retail experience or related field is a plus.

Compensation
The starting salary for this position is $74,000 per year. The actual starting pay will be determined by qualifications, including experience and relevant skills.
