Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Based in Bonita Springs, FL onsite at Sunshine Ace Hardware's Support Office, the Human Resources Generalist manages end-to-end payroll and benefits administration, HRIS oversight, and support for the full employee lifecycle in a full-time capacity.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the complete bi-weekly payroll cycle for all associates, including time record audits, processing of commissions and bonuses, handling garnishments, and updating tax statuses.
- Rectifies payroll discrepancies in collaboration with timekeepers, store managers and the accounting team, ensuring time records are accurate and complete.
- Compiles monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports covering gross earnings, taxes, hours worked, vacation accruals, deductions, and nontaxable wages.
- Ensures compliance with payroll policies and applicable statutes related to FLSA, wage and hour laws, deferral programs, tax status, and wage reduction programs; reports changes as needed.
- Manages all aspects of employee benefits, including annual open enrollment, ongoing monthly eligibility tracking, COBRA administration, and reconciling monthly invoices for payment.
- Conducts annual open enrollment and ongoing monthly benefits enrollment processes.
- Maintains HRIS records and generates reports from the system.
- Proposes new approaches, policies and procedures to increase efficiency and service levels within the department.
- Ensures compliance with governmental and labor reporting requirements including EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, the DOL, workers’ compensation, and OSHA; develops and maintains records and logs for all.
- Assists with the administration of all leave-of-absence requests (FMLA, medical, personal, and disability), ensuring legal compliance and timely communication with associates; processes disability paperwork per established procedures and laws.
- Supports workers’ compensation processes from incident reporting to return-to-work coordination; maintains regular communication with injured associates and managers to manage any restrictions.
- Provides expert guidance to managers and associates regarding payroll discrepancies, timekeeping, benefit plans, leave policies, and general employee relations.
- Maintains associate records and personnel files.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to anticipate team needs and engage proactively with day-to-day functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interviewing capabilities; able to work independently and as part of a team; well organized and self-starting.
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and demonstrate strong time management and prioritization.
- Knowledge of Human Resource systems, payroll systems, and Google Suite products.

Physical Demands
- Primary duty is an office environment with the potential to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting.
- Ability to lift and carry light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds; push and pull tasks as needed.
- Frequent use of a computer keyboard and other office equipment; clear verbal communication is required.
Other Qualifications
- Valid State of Florida Driver License with a clean driving record in line with the company’s insurance standards.
- May require evening and weekend work to support company events; occasional out-of-town travel 2-3 times per year for industry events or professional development.
