Reporting to the HR Manager, this role provides administrative support across recruitment, benefits, labor relations, employee engagement, training, payroll, and compliance.

Job Summary
We are seeking a capable Human Resources Generalist to handle a broad set of HR activities, including employee relations, payroll, and adherence to employment laws. The ideal candidate will contribute to strategic HR initiatives, assist with workforce planning, and support a constructive organizational culture through solid HR practices and policies.
Responsibilities
- Lead talent acquisition processes, including recruiting, sourcing, and onboarding new hires.
- Facilitate onboarding meetings at multiple locations.
- Plan and conduct interviews across all departments.
- Assist with reviewing job descriptions and related documentation.
- Administer new-employee orientation programs and perform evaluations to support performance management.
- Administer benefits programs, including health insurance, workers’ compensation, and other employee benefits.
- Address employee inquiries, mediate conflicts, conduct investigations, and assist with performance management and disciplinary actions.
- Manage leaves of absence (CFRA/FMLA/PDL) and stay current on new legal requirements.
- Coordinate company training sessions and distribute notices and acknowledgments.
- Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws, OSHA standards, and affirmative action planning.
- Support change management projects and assist in organizational design and development efforts.
- Address employee relations issues, conflict management, and disciplinary procedures with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Prepare reports and present information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Draft effective reports, business correspondence, and policy documents.
- Maintain accurate data entry in Paychex and manage the workforce management system.
- Assist in strategic planning related to talent management, succession planning, and training and development initiatives.
- Prepare HR metrics reports using various platforms.
- Support HR policy administration and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Support payroll processing through Paychex, overseeing end-to-end payroll in compliance with California wage-and-hour laws and tax regulations.
- Perform payroll accounting tasks, including reconciliation of payroll accounts, journal entries, and payroll tax reports.
- Calculate payroll data and interpret descriptive statistics to categorize payroll-related information.
- Ensure California-specific requirements are met, including meal/break penalties, final pay for terminated employees, and accurate overtime calculations (daily overtime after 8 hours and double time).
- Reconcile payroll with related accounts in the timekeeping system.
- Apply sound judgment in evaluating information and handle sensitive payroll issues with tact and discretion.
- Interpret and apply payroll rules and guidelines; establish and maintain payroll recordkeeping systems.
- Set up and use Microsoft Excel for payroll timekeeping; organize and prioritize payroll tasks to meet deadlines.
- Conduct biweekly payroll audits and participate in training activities and special projects.
- Collaborate with leadership on HR projects involving employer branding and internal communications.
- Be available to travel to all office locations as needed.
- Prepare and conduct termination meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SHRM certification or an equivalent credential.
- 2–4 years of HR experience.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment and labor laws.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to perform a variety of clerical tasks without direct supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
