Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Support people-first operations in downtown San Diego while helping ES3 keep HR programs running smoothly. This full-time, in-office Human Resources Generalist role focuses on HR compliance, benefits administration, workforce policy matters, and staff engagement. You will serve as a key point of contact for HR questions and help strengthen internal department audits and corporate culture objectives for internal and external customers.
What you’ll do
- Assist departments with day-to-day HR program administration across compensation, benefits, leave, workers’ compensation, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, and performance and talent management.
- Support productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development activities.
- Help administer corporate benefits and wellness programs, coordinating with staff and external vendors.
- Track and monitor required training and compliance schedules aligned with federal and/or state agency requirements.
- Maintain and report corporate review metrics and analyze survey data using HR technology platforms through consistent staff engagement activities.
- Support recruitment workflow for job postings, applicant review, interviews, hiring, and onboarding of technical and professional staff using established platforms.
- Partner with department managers to identify skills and competencies needed for open positions.
- Initiate background check screenings and employee eligibility verifications, maintain offer letter recordkeeping, and support new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, routing complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate staff.
- Stay current on HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies through trade journals, newsletters, government reports, and training courses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- At least 3-5+ years of experience in human resource management.
- Knowledge of PC operating systems and Microsoft 365 (Office).
- Functional knowledge of Quickbooks Enterprise Pro.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat for filing and recordkeeping.
- Functional working knowledge of ADP Workforcenow (Comprehensive HR, Payroll, Custom Reporting, Workforce Data Analysis).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
- Knowledge of established recruitment platforms to maintain ES3’s presence.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and online via Teams, telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Self-motivated with the ability to follow directions without constant supervision.
- High integrity and strong ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Professional demeanor; efficient, dependable, and able to complete projects within assigned timeframes.
- Ability to communicate with sensitivity, relatability, and empathy.
- Compliance management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organization Management, Human Resource Management, Economics, Pre-Law, or related major (preferred). TeamKeeper experience is preferred.
Position details
- Location: San Diego, CA (onsite)
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
- Travel: Ability to travel on occasion to other ES3 locations may be required as needed
