Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist supports day-to-day HR operations across recruiting, benefits, compliance, and payroll.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the HR Lead on oversight of employee benefits insurance billing and monthly invoicing with the broker
  • Assist with benefit enrollments through the insurance broker
  • Complete and manage documentation for leave of absences, FMLA, and employment verification
  • Ensure COBRA notification is completed
  • Perform ongoing COBRA administration follow-up, including confirming valid addresses and processing termination employee payments
  • Support recruiting activities, including job posting, resume review, phone screenings, and reference checks
  • Coordinate and assist with development and ongoing review of the internal training program for staff-level positions
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to support departmental scalability
  • Coordinate the monthly on-call schedule
  • Coordinate physician specialist meetings with affiliated health care systems and private community
  • Conduct site rounding with leadership to support employee engagement, culture initiatives, and operational consistency
  • Facilitate training modules and complete E-Verify testing in compliance with USCIS requirements
  • Support overall HR compliance oversight
  • Maintain up-to-date OSHA/HIPAA compliance training governance for staff and providers
  • Coordinate and monitor employee compliance within the computer security and phishing testing program
  • Process biweekly payroll for non-physician employees
  • Ensure complete time recording, including call pay for nursing and other role-specific time requirements
  • Educate department leaders on consistently missed time entries
  • Process extra bonus payrolls
  • Update employee personal records for deductions and taxes throughout the year
  • Stay current on payroll and benefits systems to support accurate accounting
  • Support payroll system enhancements and streamlined processing
  • Facilitate employee understanding of payroll procedures
  • Compile payroll data including garnishments, insurance deductions, and 401(k) deductions
  • Verify data from external systems (benefits portal and Fidelity) to confirm updates transfer into payroll prior to processing
  • Conduct pre-employment and background screenings for all hires
  • Complete new employee setup and additional access requests with the IT Director
  • Add employees to HR systems, including payroll and benefits (health, vision, dental, disability, HSA, and 401(k))
  • Add employees to the timekeeping and payroll processing system
  • Review the Employee Handbook and complete new hire paperwork with employees
  • Order employee access badges, parking permits, and uniforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience (required)
  • Healthcare industry experience (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, employee relations, and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations (preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Paylocity Payroll System experience (required)
  • SHRM-CP certification (required)
