Human Resources Manager
Job Description
This role oversees the delivery of human resources services, policies, and programs for a hotel within the Marriott portfolio, with emphasis on employee relations, staffing, payroll, training, and legal compliance. The position is based onsite in Amarillo, Texas, and offers a yearly salary between USD 70,000 and 75,000.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate HR policies, programs, and practices to strengthen employee relations and support training and development efforts.
- Oversee payroll operations by adhering to established policies, coaching department heads, ensuring accurate submissions, and maintaining precise payroll records.
- Keep the organizational structure current by updating job descriptions and requirements; manage posting and job requisition processes.
- Enhance staffing efforts by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counsel managers on candidate selection; analyze exit interviews; and recommend improvements.
- Prepare employees for assignments through orientation and training programs.
- Manage a pay plan by conducting pay surveys, evaluating jobs, preparing pay budgets, monitoring pay actions, and proposing revisions to pay structures.
- Support performance management by training managers to coach and discipline employees; schedule management conferences; address grievances; and counsel employees and supervisors.
- Facilitate communication of benefits programs and coordinate with corporate partners to ensure an effective open enrollment process for all staff.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring applicable federal and state HR requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the hotel at hearings when needed.
- Enforce management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending HR policies and procedures.
- Retain historical HR records by designing a filing and retrieval system and maintaining past and current records.
- Cultivate professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and participation in professional societies.
- Support hotel staff by managing multiple aspects of recruiting, onboarding, orientation, and training processes.
- Advance staff performance by counseling and disciplining employees, and by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Contribute to team success by completing related tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resources roles.
- 3+ years of experience in Labor Relations and Employee Relations.
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred.
