Human Resources Manager
Job Description
This leadership role directs human resources operations, aligning people strategies with business goals while guiding the HR team in hiring, onboarding, compensation, benefits, leaves, and policy enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of HR policies, programs, and practices to support organizational goals.
- Partner with executive leadership to align staffing plans with business strategy.
- Supervise an HR Generalist and a Recruiter, overseeing recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes.
- Adjust HR activities as needed based on employment level demands.
- Develop and monitor effective talent acquisition strategies to attract qualified candidates.
- Promote company values and culture through events and activities that reinforce traditions.
- Oversee workers’ compensation administration and annual OSHA reporting duties.
- Monitor HR metrics and propose data-driven improvements.
- Conduct workplace investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and requirements across all roles.
- Oversee the HR budget and vendor relationships.
- Provide training and guidance to managers on onboarding, performance coaching, interviewing, and employee relations.
- Manage compensation programs, salary administration, and market benchmarking.
- Oversee annual performance reviews and administer the employee survey.
- Analyze and select benefit programs, including health and welfare insurance options.
- Coordinate with benefit brokers to implement and communicate benefits programs and changes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state HR requirements; maintain records and represent the company in hearings when needed.
- Maintain historical and current HR records through an organized filing and retrieval system.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of HR leadership experience.
- Thorough knowledge of labor law, recruiting best practices, and HR operations.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Job Details
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary: USD 77,000 - 87,000 per year
- Location: On-site in Mattawan, MI; reports to both the Warehouse location in Paw Paw, MI and the office location in Mattawan, MI
- Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience requirement: Minimum 3 years in HR leadership
