Role overview

This on-site Human Resources Specialist role is based in Tomah, WI, with responsibilities across HRIS maintenance, payroll documentation, recruitment and onboarding, benefits administration, and records management. The position reports to the Director of Human Resources and a Senior HR Generalist and may require occasional travel. The Oakdale facility context influences the scope of workflows and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and verify documentation tied to plant personnel activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Support employees by addressing HR-related inquiries and directing questions as needed.
  • Assist benefits administration, including open enrollment, benefits enrollment processing, COBRA terminations, reporting, and communicating benefit information to staff.
  • Run monthly benefits audits to compare enrollment data with ADP records.
  • Support payroll paperwork processing within ADP.
  • Help maintain EEO records, reports, and logs to ensure compliance with EEO regulations.
  • Maintain the Oakdale employee directory for the site.
  • Update and safeguard HRIS records and files.
  • Assist in recruiting activities, including posting openings, reviewing resumes, conducting phone interviews, coordinating onsite interviews, checking references, and verifying applications.
  • Keep Oakdale employee files organized and up to date.
  • Help the Sr. HR Generalist audit Oakdale timecards as part of timecard management.
  • Track Oakdale Sick Call data and compare with weekly timecards; alert the HR team to excessive, late, or questionable absences.
  • Maintain the Oakdale Corrective Action tracker.
  • Lead the Oakdale new hire orientation and onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on employee engagement initiatives.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of prior experience in an HR role.
  • Solid understanding of HR laws, practices, and policies.

Technologies and tools

  • ADP, HRIS, and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
