People Operations Associate - Benefits & Engagement
Job Description
OppFi is seeking a People Operations Associate to support benefits and engagement programs across remote and in-person experiences. In this role, you will coordinate employee initiatives, strengthen internal communication, and help run key processes that shape the employee benefits and culture experience.
Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will combine proactive organization with hands-on event and program support, including engagement programming, Belonging@OppFi BRG coordination, and ongoing intranet and communications upkeep.
Key responsibilities
- Support cross-functional planning and execution of high-impact employee programs, including Thrive Where You Work Week, Annual Kick-Off, EOY celebrations, Belonging@OppFi programming, Town Halls, and recognition initiatives.
- Provide on-site support for company-wide events in Chicago, including detailed event readiness and execution support.
- Manage remote hotel room block requests for departmental onsites.
- Contribute to ideation and execution of engagement opportunities that support company culture across in-person, remote, and hybrid experiences.
- Own event vendor processes, including securing quotes and COIs, contract reviews, and vendor onboarding.
- Collect and analyze employee feedback to evaluate event effectiveness and inform future engagement strategy.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Belonging@OppFi BRG groups, coordinating meeting schedules, program approvals, vendor coordination, resource sharing, and internal communications.
- Facilitate selection of Belonging@OppFi/BRG-aligned charitable partners through OppFi’s charitable partner framework for annual giving.
- Coordinate and participate in the Belonging@OppFi new hire orientation presentation rotation.
- Maintain the company intranet by updating and auditing content, facilitate platform training and new hire onboarding sessions, and advocate for ongoing platform utilization, adoption, and enhancements.
- Draft and distribute internal announcements celebrating employee milestones such as birthdays and work anniversaries.
- Support internal communications plans by collecting content, developing digital assets, and producing polished presentation decks.
- Oversee the Belonging@OppFi presentation schedule for new employee orientation and participate as a regular presenter in the rotation.
- Support the operational success of company Town Halls by providing technical and logistical support for in-person and virtual formats.
- Process weekly recognition point distributions and maintain ongoing analysis of program utilization.
- Provide backup for New Hire Orientation Benefits presentation.
- Support quarterly and annual vendor review processes, including vendor engagement to secure required documentation.
- Assist with Annual Benefits Open Enrollment activities.
- Support End of Year audit and reconciliation activities.
- Process Tuition Reimbursement.
- Support benefits and wellness communication and education initiatives, plus additional benefits and perk programs as needed.
- Complete ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma required; a two or four-year degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field is desirable.
- Experience: 3+ years of related administrative or project coordination experience, ideally within People Operations or Human Resources.
- Knowledge: Foundational understanding of employee benefits, employment law principles, and core People Ops/HR processes.
- Skills: Strong time management, organization, and professional communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Analytics: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (v-lookups, pivot tables, formulas) to analyze program data.
- Content creation: Intermediate proficiency with presentation and design tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, or Adobe) to create presentations and digital assets.
- Execution: Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and complete deadline-driven projects.
- Collaboration: Ability to partner effectively with third-party vendors to meet deliverables.
- Work style: Flexibility and willingness to help where needed, with a strong focus on building positive relationships.
- Mindset: Problem-solving orientation with a high standard of quality, strong initiative, proactive approach, and resourcefulness.
- Personal attributes: High emotional intelligence and intellectual curiosity; open and receptive to feedback and coaching.
- Travel: Ability to travel to the corporate office in Chicago for periodic onsite company events as requested/required.
