Job Description

The People Operations Coordinator supports Sunrise’s Human Resources team across benefits administration and employee lifecycle coordination in a hybrid Sioux Falls, SD role.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for HR team inquiries, routing questions to the appropriate team members.
  • Create and maintain employee change forms and supporting documentation (for example, checklists, change notices, offer letters).
  • Help maintain accurate employee records and personnel files within the HRIS.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities, including leading New Employee Experience, new hire documentation, HRIS support, and benefits enrollment.
  • Support offboarding from notice through final separation by confirming key dates, communicating with payroll, and updating records.
  • Assist with HR metrics, compliance reporting, and audit support.
  • Research and complete employee verification requests in a timely manner.
  • Provide general HR administrative support and employee-facing assistance as needed.
  • Administer day-to-day employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, FMLA, paid leave, and work comp.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee benefits and leave inquiries, including issue resolution.
  • Support new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment.
  • Maintain accurate benefits data within HRIS and vendor systems.
  • Coordinate with Payroll to ensure benefit deductions and related transactions are processed accurately.
  • Partner with benefit brokers, carriers, and vendors to resolve issues and support program administration.
  • Collaborate on benefit communications, educational materials, and employee resources.
  • Support compliance with applicable benefits regulations, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and state paid leave programs.
  • Assist with benefits audits, reporting requirements, renewal processes, and vendor-related activities.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing and payroll-related administrative activities.
  • Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries when serving as backup.
  • Assist with payroll-related audits and data validation as needed.
  • Provide backup support for recruiting activities, including resume review and candidate screening.
  • Support job postings, applicant tracking system administration, and interview coordination.
  • Assist with candidate communications, scheduling, and recruiting logistics.
  • Coordinate onboarding preparation, communications, background checks, and new hire documentation.
  • Support community outreach and job fairs.
  • Support the Employee Engagement Specialist for company-wide events, activities, and programs; act as co-lead for Engagement Crew at the location.
  • Assist with employee recognition programs and internal communications, including SharePoint.
  • Facilitate New Employee Experience for Sioux Falls new employees and provide backup coverage for the Employee Engagement Specialist.
  • Promote positive employee experience through engagement and culture-building initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective work with AI tools and maintain an open, curious approach to emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Degree in HR Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in HR coordination or business administration preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to handle confidential information required.
  • Strong customer service and employee support orientation required.
  • Proficiency with UKG HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration preferred.
  • Experience in multi-state or multi-plan benefits environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks required.
  • Superior skills with Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary (DOQ): $46,432 - $66,331 - $82,120
