Recruiter/HR Assistant
Job Description
The part-time Recruiter and HR Assistant role is based onsite in La Crosse, WI, and centers on recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, and general HR support within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for production roles and assist with skilled, technical, and professional openings.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruiting strategies.
- Create and manage job postings across company career sites, job boards, and social media.
- Source qualified candidates through staffing agencies, job boards, referrals, social media, community partnerships, job fairs, and educational institutions.
- Screen resumes, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Maintain consistent candidate communication to ensure a positive hiring experience.
- Maintain ATS records and recruitment documentation.
- Track recruiting metrics such as applicant flow, time-to-fill, and hiring effectiveness.
- Prepare new hire paperwork and onboarding materials; ensure employment eligibility documentation is completed accurately.
- Maintain employee personnel files and update HRIS records.
- Serve as a resource for new employees by answering onboarding questions and explaining company policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
- Support annual Open Enrollment by preparing communications and educating employees on benefit options.
- Assist with benefits audits and compliance reporting.
- Maintain confidential employee records and HRIS data; prepare employment verifications and HR correspondence.
- Maintain HR forms, templates, and standard operating procedures; support HR reporting, record retention, and compliance documentation.
- Order and maintain HR office supplies and recruiting materials; handle confidential information with discretion.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and company events.
- Compile recruiting and HR metrics for management reporting and identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Support HR projects and departmental initiatives; perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 3–5 years of Human Resources or recruiting experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Human resources management experience: 3 years (Required).
- Work Location: In person.
- Strong knowledge of recruiting best practices and candidate sourcing strategies.
- Experience utilizing social media and creative recruiting techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with managers and team members.
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and follow-up skills.

Education
