Job Description

Mount Sinai Health System’s Icahn School of Medicine and Icahn Medical Research Institute are hiring a Recruiter Level 1 to help build and execute recruiting strategies for healthcare professionals. In this onsite role in New York City, you will manage hiring and selection for assigned departments while serving as a connection point across Human Resources, hiring managers, candidates, and external clients.

What you’ll do

  • Support company and departmental business goals by meeting or exceeding individual placement objectives through independent sourcing, with minimal reliance on outside agencies.
  • Partner with Hiring Managers to understand staffing and operational needs, develop recruitment strategies, and provide direction to source and secure qualified candidates.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external sourcing resources to fill positions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Act as the liaison between candidates and management during interview and selection, advise hiring managers on the hiring process, collaborate on job requisition details and creation, and recommend effective candidate assessment and interview techniques.
  • Maintain timely updates in the applicant tracking system and communicate progress to hiring managers to ensure hiring requirements are met.
  • Identify viable client prospects using directories, contact lists, databases, leads, internet resources, and personal networking.
  • Place employment advertisements in approved Internet sites, print media, agencies, and schools.
  • Attend recruitment events such as career fairs, networking events, and open houses.
  • Support the requisition process by reviewing job descriptions, funding sources, and position numbers to ensure accuracy and timely posting.
  • Monitor, update, and review requisitions and applicant information in the applicant tracking database, including reviewing resumes and applications and entering offers in the system.
  • Negotiate compensation packages, including sign-on bonus and relocation expenses, in collaboration with hiring managers and the Compensation department to extend offers.
  • Assist and follow up with the Senior Staffing Specialist to support timely and effective recruitment practices.
  • Oversee the Employment Coordinator to ensure onboarding tasks are completed, including New Hire Physicals, background checks, and education verification.
  • Mentor and assist the Employment Coordinator to support professional development and career goals.
  • Handle inquiries and concerns from departments, employees, and all levels of management.
  • Perform other related duties.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years of recruiting and placement experience in the healthcare industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
