Senior Human Resource Generalist

Positioned with the New Mexico Environment Department, the Senior HR Generalist delivers training, coaching and mentorship across recruitment, payroll, benefits, FMLA and workers’ compensation, and supports HRB staff with personnel assignments and program needs. This onsite role is based in Albuquerque, NM.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate classification and compensation needs of the assigned division, including training requirements.
• Provide recruitment and selection support.
• Assist with HR planning efforts and performance management.
• Adhere to demonstrated competencies required by the organization, the State Personnel Office, and Department of Finance Administration rules and guidelines.
• Collaborate with supervisors and managers in compensation, recruitment and classification areas.
• Process personnel actions including hiring, compensation, transfers, reclassifications and recruitment activities.
• Cross train in Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Training and Development, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, ADA, Leave Management and Benefits Administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in any field.
• One year of experience in human resources operations, including recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, investigations, HR-related training, and/or occupational analysis.
• An equivalent combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience totaling five years may substitute for the required education and experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminals and extensive computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some in-state and out-of-state travel may be required.
