Job Description
Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health seeks a Senior Human Resources Associate to provide multi-specialty HR consultation and operational support for assigned business units. The role focuses on policy interpretation, coordination of core HR processes, and maintaining accurate HR records in university systems while ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a human resources professional with expertise across multiple HR specialties.
- Analyze relevant information and contribute input toward the design and administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs for assigned business unit(s).
- Advise customers, staff, and leadership on HR-related issues.
- Interpret and counsel leaders and employees on policies and procedures to support fair and consistent application.
- Ensure required forms and documentation are completed in a timely manner.
- Partner closely with assigned Chairs, Deans, and Department Administrators to deliver comprehensive HR consultation and support.
- Collaborate with Central HR Recruitment and Compensation teams on faculty and staff hiring, including salary recommendations, promotions, reclassifications, and merit actions.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding for faculty and staff, including I-9 completion, PeopleSoft transactions, orientation support, and separation processing.
- Act as a resource to department leadership on employee relations matters such as performance management, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.
- Administer leave programs, including FMLA and related leave requests, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and university policies.
- Manage immigration-related processes for assigned divisions, including J-1 and H-1B visa preparation, documentation, and coordination with university and external stakeholders.
- Review, calculate, and process payroll adjustments to ensure transactions are timely and accurate.
- Maintain HR records and data integrity within PeopleSoft and other university systems.
- Support workforce planning, talent management, and organizational effectiveness efforts within assigned departments.
- Participate in and support ongoing RSPH HR projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to university policies, federal regulations, and employment-related laws.
- Handle confidential employee information routinely, requiring discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
- Three years of human resources administration experience, preferably with experience in a human resources specialty, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficiency with personal computer software applications, including word processing, database management, and/or spreadsheet tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education, academic medicine, or a similarly complex organizational environment.
- Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Resources or comparable HRIS.
- Professional Human Resources certification preferred, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and workplace investigations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with senior leaders, faculty, administrators, and stakeholders across departments and divisions.
- Experience supporting employee leave programs, including FMLA administration.
- Experience coordinating employment-based immigration processes, including J-1 and H-1B visa sponsorships.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Work Location and Remote Work Notes
This hybrid position is located in Atlanta, GA. The role allows for working from home regularly; however, the employee must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs. The schedule follows agreed-upon guidelines of the department.
The role requires residency in the state of Georgia. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to the employee.
