Job Description

SEDAA offers a collaborative, impact-focused onboarding for a Senior HR Consultant on a five-month hybrid project based in Oakland. This role centers on guiding performance management, handling employee relations, delivering HR business partner support, and conducting investigations for CLIENT. Enjoy a contract opportunity with a pay rate of $40-$47 per hour and a hybrid work setup that balances on-site collaboration with flexible remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consulting and guidance to CLIENT leaders and staff on performance management processes and improvement actions.
  • Partner with leaders to develop action and improvement plans addressing performance gaps.
  • Interpret CLIENT policies and procedures for specific situations.
  • Initiate information gathering and research for HR Managers, Directors, subject matter experts, or the Law Department when escalation is warranted due to complexity or sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with the HR team and line of business clients to identify root causes and ensure full resolution.
  • Follow up to confirm solutions are implemented and issues resolved.
  • Conduct internal investigations in response to complaints, interviewing leaders and employees to support the workplace issue resolution process.
  • Summarize event facts and analysis for review and submission to EEO Investigators, Law Department, HR, and CLIENT.
  • May perform HR Business Partner duties such as advising senior leaders and delivering HR programs (for example succession planning and the annual pay process).

Requirements

  • B.A. in Business or Social Sciences
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in Human Resources, with 2+ years in a progressively responsible role as lead or specialist
  • Experience in employee relations and conflict resolution
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving performance issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of California labor law and federal employment regulations
