Job Description

Sullivan & Cromwell offers a Human Resources Coordinator role in New York, NY (onsite), supporting the Firm’s HR function with a strong emphasis on recruiting and talent acquisition. This position pairs hands-on HR administration with meaningful coordination across onboarding, candidate experience, and HR data management. The base salary range is USD 65,000 - 75,000, with the total compensation package potentially including overtime pay, discretionary bonuses, and other benefits. What you’ll do

You will provide administrative and operational support for core HR processes, with day-to-day responsibilities centered on recruiting workflow, HR recordkeeping, and onboarding coordination.

  • Maintain and update job descriptions and manage job postings through the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and external recruiting platforms.
  • Coordinate interview logistics, including scheduling, candidate communication, and required materials for both in-person and virtual interviews.
  • Support recruitment for entry-level and junior staff positions, including review steps and coordination across the recruiting pipeline.
  • Conduct reference and background checks, ensuring required documentation is completed.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date candidate records in the ATS to support data integrity across active requisitions.
  • Update applicant records and recruiting reports to support HR tracking and reporting needs.
  • Support recruiting for paralegal positions, including posting roles, reviewing applications, and conducting initial candidate phone screens.
  • Coordinate call-back interview logistics and ensure interviewers receive the necessary documentation and materials.
  • Maintain paralegal applicant records and activity reports.
  • Assist with drafting new hire offer letters and coordinate pre-employment activities for staff hires.
  • Initiate background checks and collect new hire paperwork through the ATS.
  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for new employees and coordinate onboarding, including arranging new hire training.
  • Maintain electronic employee files and related records in accordance with Firm policies.
  • Regularly and on an ad-hoc basis, update HR reports, spreadsheets, and other HR documentation.
  • Provide general administrative support across HR projects and initiatives.
  • Comply with the Firm’s information security policies, protecting assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction, or interference, and report security events or potential risks to management.

What you bring

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with strong Excel skills and Word proficiency.
  • Good judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Human Resources, recruiting, or related administrative experience.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with an ATS such as Taleo is a plus.

Compensation details

The base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000. When determining an individual offer, elements unique to each person are considered, including skill set, experience level, performance, professional certifications, degrees, and location, as well as the Firm’s needs. The total compensation package may include overtime pay, discretionary bonuses, and other benefits.
