Job Description

The Human Resource Generalist role at Dority & Manning, P.A. supports managers and employees by delivering HR guidance and executing HR programs across performance management, employee engagement, benefits, payroll, and compliance. The position requires discretion with confidential information and the ability to stay effective in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the administrative portion of the annual performance management cycle, including assisting the Director of HR with setup and ongoing management of the Performance platform in UKG.
  • Support employee-relations initiatives and programs in partnership with the HR Director, including employee counseling and guidance, coaching related to performance management, and interpretation of firm policies.
  • Lead payroll processing, including reporting and management of 401(k) and benefit feed information.
  • Coordinate payroll taxes for both existing and newly added states.
  • Work with the HR Director and brokers to review and recommend benefits strategy and overall plan design.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment, and manage ongoing benefits administration, including required reporting.
  • Administer leave programs, including those related to FMLA, FFCRA, state law requirements, disability, and ADA, among others.
  • Support COBRA processing, worker’s compensation claims, and unemployment claims administration.
  • Perform HRIS duties and maintain reporting for UKG and other systems as needed.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and procedures, escalating complex issues to senior HR staff.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement surveys and related assessment processes.
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding procedures, including exit interviews as needed in collaboration with Recruiting and the HR Director.
  • Maintain employment law compliance across federal, state, and local requirements and recommended best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR Generalist role or equivalent HR role.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in employee relations or performance management.
  • Experience with UKG.
  • Experience working in a professional services environment.
  • Strong program and project management skills, including the ability to operationalize and scale programs.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively while exercising good judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide change.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships across diverse groups and drive performance aligned with firm goals.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience facilitating groups.
  • Ability to exercise discernment and judgment in selecting methods to obtain solutions.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to transfer information effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and prioritization.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to process and retain information, paired with openness, trust, integrity, and respect and dignity for all.
  • Detail orientation, planning and organizing, tech savvy, adaptability, and persuasive communication.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, client focus, quality of work, innovation, and disciplined judgment.

Certifications

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

Work Location and Schedule

  • Location: Greenville, SC (hybrid).
  • This position primarily works in an office environment, sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Current in-office schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
  • Current remote schedule: Wednesday and Friday.
  • The schedule is subject to change in the future.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree.
