Human Resource Generalist, Bilingual English/Spanish
Job Description
Daybreak Foods Inc. seeks a bilingual Human Resource Generalist to support HR operations on site in Whitewater, WI, reporting to the Human Resource Manager.
Responsibilities
- Source, screen, and recruit candidates for open hourly roles across multiple channels
- Enhance sourcing strategies through local market research
- Coordinate the hourly employment workflow from application to onboarding
- Evaluate applications and resumes to determine qualifications
- Conduct phone screens with applicants who meet minimum criteria
- Plan and participate in the interview process
- Facilitate pre-employment screening activities
- Adhere to compensation guidelines or consult with the appropriate partner to ensure accurate pay for the position, experience, and abilities
- Prepare written offers for hourly hires
- Maintain correspondence with candidates and applicants
- Administer safety programs and safety committee meetings
- Review and communicate safety programs to teams
- Schedule and deliver safety trainings to maintain OSHA compliance
- Coordinate and review safety hazard surveys
- Coordinate with operations to ensure SDS books are kept up to date
- Assist with incident reports and accident investigations
- Maintain first aid kits and related resources
- Create safety incident reporting folders and distribute them to operations
- Enforce incident reporting regulations and track incident reports
- Track EEO information and maintain Applicant Tracking data by EEO classification
- Conduct new hire orientations and ensure new hires have necessary supplies
- Complete all new hire processing and related paperwork
- Perform E-Verify for every hired employee
- Support the Regional Human Resource Manager and management team to deliver a positive employee relations experience
- Conduct onboarding follow-up reviews for hourly staff
- Partner with the Regional Human Resource Manager to address employee concerns with timely solutions
- Visit employees in agricultural, milling, and food processing environments to understand concerns and verify corrective actions
- Support the payroll team with required communications to ensure accurate payroll submission each pay period
- Handle additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience required
- Experience with recruiting activities: sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating pre-employment checks
- On-boarding expertise and safety administration knowledge
- Progressive discipline and policy interpretation skills
- Conflict resolution and employee relations capabilities
- Affirmative action and EEOC applicant tracking experience
- Experience completing 300 logs
- Ability to understand and communicate benefit and compensation programs
- Prior poultry industry experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Knowledge of progressive sourcing and recruitment methods
- Familiarity with basic and behavioral interview techniques
- Understanding of the progressive discipline process
- Basic knowledge of industrial safety concepts
- General knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems
- Knowledge of employee benefit and compensation plans and working knowledge of compensation systems
- Working knowledge of office workflow concepts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Polished, adaptable interpersonal, and written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Keyboard speed of at least 40 wpm
- Capacity to learn quickly and maintain a fast pace
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
