Job Description
RAND-WHITNEY Containerboard LP offers an on site Human Resource Manager role in Montville, CT with a competitive annual compensation range of $98,500 to $113,000. This position provides the chance to partner with leaders and employees to align HR initiatives with business goals, while upholding compliant people practices. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, and you will serve as a trusted advisor to drive performance, mitigate risk, and support organizational success.

Responsibilities
- Deliver HR support and advisory services to designated client groups, ensuring guidance and actions comply with federal, state, and local laws and company policies. Guide managers to assess and improve team performance and identify risk through proactive consultation and issue escalation.
- Collaborate with HR functional leaders to design and execute organizational HR strategies, goals, programs, and key initiatives. Communicate workforce trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities to the business unit leader, SVP of HR, and other functional leaders as appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of local and federal employment laws and regulatory requirements; escalate issues to HR partners to develop and institutionalize process or policy changes.
- Support timely employee investigations by partnering with the Employee Relations Manager, SVP of HR, division leaders, and Legal as needed. Review involuntary terminations and final written warnings before communication. Advise managers on employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Conduct exit interviews as applicable and follow up on problematic virtual exit surveys.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruitment initiatives, including strategy, job postings, interviews, and candidate selection. Draft compelling job descriptions, determine FLSA classifications, and obtain compensation approvals. Work with evaluation panels on interview structure, questions, and evaluation criteria.
- Facilitate and manage enterprise wide HR programs, including annual compliance training, ad hoc programs, audits, benefit open enrollment, and the performance management process encompassing goal setting, coaching, feedback, development planning, and succession planning.
- Deliver high quality internal customer service to departments and employees by fostering a positive, professional environment and a consistent employee experience through clear communication and policy application.
- Manage, audit, and maintain HR data integrity through reporting, HR dashboards, and HRIS systems. Review employee transactions with hiring managers and unit leaders to ensure accuracy and timeliness; proactively identify data trends or anomalies requiring action.
- Conduct regular employee meetings and maintain timely feedback loops with employees and managers, using survey results to promote transparency and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to special projects and assignments as business needs dictate.
- Maintain control of personally identifiable information and other protected data in line with confidentiality, privacy standards, and applicable policies, including HIPAA where required.

Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in human resources or related roles.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certificates: HR Certification or SHRM Certification preferred.
- Location: Onsite in Montville, CT.
- Technologies: Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, HRIS, and HR Dashboard.
- Note: This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
