Job Description

The Human Resource Specialist will manage onsite HR initiatives that support store leadership and Outfitters at Bass Pro Shops in Pearland, TX. This role focuses on staffing, training, engagement, orientation and onboarding, and consistent administrative execution, with additional administrative support for the General Manager as needed.

Onsite HR Responsibilities

  • Support world class customer service standards and help maintain a pleasant, productive shopping experience for customers.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador by representing the organization’s culture to encourage retention and a positive working environment within each department.
  • Assist with the hiring and staffing process for hourly Outfitters.
  • Ensure training completion and monitor training for location Outfitters.
  • Process and audit employment actions in HRIS, Payroll, and Scheduling systems for hourly Outfitters.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all sensitive information.
  • Partner with the General Manager to help plan and implement associate recognition and related activities.
  • Assist with communicating HR policies, practices, and company direction.
  • Maintain compliance through record keeping activities such as legal posters and notices.
  • Provide guidance and support for performance management, annual review processes, and succession planning for hourly Outfitters.
  • Handle and resolve first level outfitter issues, and coordinate with the Sr. HRM or Employee Relations Department for guidance when escalation is required.
  • Perform administrative duties as needed.
  • Process invoices and manage expenses within Coupa.
  • Order and monitor store supplies.
  • Coordinate travel for store Outfitters and leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to calculate figures and interpret and analyze data from reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Preferred education: Bachelors Degree in Human Resource.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of human resources and administrative/office experience.

Travel, Work Conditions, and Independent Judgment

  • Travel: May require infrequent travel to support other stores and new store events.
  • Physical requirements: Regular computer work, walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Independent judgment: Works under general supervision using established procedures, with occasional independent judgment using limited alternatives; may make recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
