Job Description
The role of Human Resources Administrator - Employee Relations at Chesterfield County Public Schools provides specialist support in resolving complex employee relations matters and assisting schools and facilities in daily operations.
General Description
Responsible for performing essential functions to support schools and facilities by resolving complex employee relations issues. Work is conducted within defined departmental objectives and policies, with the incumbent operating independently while coordinating with others as needed. The position involves frequent contact at all organizational levels within and outside the school system to explain programs and policies and to recruit for new positions, representing the school system in these interactions.
Responsibilities
- Leads investigations of employee relations issues and produces cogent reports; provides support in a variety of other employee relations situations.
- Plans sequence of investigations, conducts interviews using neutral, fact-finding techniques.
- Communicates investigation outcomes as necessary.
- Proposes refinements to standard operating procedures for investigations as needed.
- May coordinate with CCPS safety and security, law enforcement, and Child Protective Services as necessary.
- May conduct, coordinate or review employee investigations related to allegations of harassment and discrimination.
- Participates in the management of matters related to EEOC complaints in coordination with supervisors and legal counsel.
- Works with administrators and employees to identify and resolve personnel issues and complaints; reviews recommendations for disciplinary actions including suspension, demotions, promotions and terminations.
- May assist in developing and implementing training materials to inform and educate employees and supervisors.
- Collaborates with supervisors and legal counsel to resolve complex labor relations matters.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws and school board policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in a human resources environment in a professional, licensed, or administrative capacity.
- Master’s Degree, or human resources certification (e.g. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Collective Bargaining experience and Investigative training and certification.
- Valid VA Driver’s License. In accordance with Policy 5431, driving checks apply for employees assigned a district-owned or leased vehicle.
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal History Investigation.
- State Police Criminal History Investigation.
- Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation.
- Tuberculosis Screening/Test.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource management and employment law including EEOC, ADA, and employee relations management.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Compensation
USD 78,740 - 133,869 per year
