Human Resources Administrator - Staffing
Job Description
Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a Human Resources Administrator - Staffing for an onsite role in Chesterfield, VA. The position centers on staffing analysis and forecasting, leads recruitment and selection for professional and instructional staff, and oversees employee relations across the district. The salary range is $78,740 to $133,869 per year. A bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, or a related field plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience are required.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary HR contact for a set of assigned schools and/or departments.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Offers HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Oversees staffing for assigned units with attention to position control; collaborates with school administrators, the Instructional Division, and the Office of Management and Budget to forecast and determine staffing needs.
- Staffs instructional, professional, and support positions for an assigned group of schools and/or departments.
- May work with secondary schools to identify and hire coaching and extra-curricular personnel and maintain related data.
- May coordinate the placement of student teachers and interns.
- May plan a variety of work calendars.
- Works with the HRIS to coordinate issuance of contracts and work agreements for new hires, promotions, and transfers to ensure compliance with School Board policies, state laws, and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; partners with senior managers or legal as needed.
- Collaborates with administrators and employees to identify and resolve employee matters.
- Partners with other administrators to resolve complex employee relations issues, including conducting thorough investigations when appropriate.
- Coordinates employee transfers in accordance with School Board policies.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local standards and regulations; serves as a resource on affirmative action, equal opportunity, ADA, and FLSA issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of related experience in human resources, staffing, or a closely related field.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, education, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including federal and state laws, staffing and selection, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, and performance management.
- Knowledge of School Board policies, programs, and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

General Description
The role involves analysis and forecasting of staffing requirements, along with supervision of the recruitment and selection process for professional and instructional staff and management of employee relations. Regular contacts occur at all levels within and outside the school system to explain programs and policies.
