Job Description

The Human Resources Assistant provides essential administrative support to Tillamook County's on-site HR department in Laurel, Oregon. This role handles document processing, maintains personnel records, prepares routine reports, and assists with personnel activities under the supervision of the HR Manager. Compensation for this position is USD 24 to 32 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Handles the processing of a variety of HR documents.
  • Generates recurring personnel reports.
  • Explains and clarifies personnel procedures for staff.
  • Maintains HR record-keeping systems and files.
  • Provides clerical support for personnel-related activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in human resources management, labor relations, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience may substitute for the educational requirement; a combination of education and three years or more of progressively responsible HR experience can substitute for an associate degree.
  • Two years of progressively responsible HR administrative experience.
  • At the time of appointment, must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license or be able to obtain one within six months and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal history background investigation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision is not a function assigned to this role.

Supervisory Controls

Works under close supervision, performing routine tasks independently based on past experience. Deviations from established practices are referred to the supervisor for guidance.

Mental and Physical Efforts

Normal concentration and attention to detail are required to meet deadlines. The position is primarily sedentary; the worker typically sits, with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light carrying of items such as papers or a laptop bag. Driving may be involved. No unusual physical demands are required.

Work Environment

Work occurs in an office setting with standard safety practices for offices, meeting rooms, libraries, and related facilities. The space is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
