Job Description

The Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic partner to Tribal Operations leaders at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. This onsite role supports organizational effectiveness and people outcomes, with a focus on engagement, retention, performance management, talent management, and compensation. The position works closely with multiple HR functions, including Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Benefits, HRIS, Compensation, and Leadership and Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach leaders in people management best practices, including attraction, performance management, reward and recognition, team member development, and retention strategies.
  • Help leaders drive proactive changes that support both external adaptation in a rapidly changing environment and internal change management.
  • Use analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze financial, operational, and workforce data, identify trends, and develop recommendations for action.
  • Partner with leaders to build and sustain a high-performing organization with a focus on team member engagement and team effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure organization structure, design, and staffing for positions align with business needs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for questions related to benefits, compensation, internal equity analysis, and hiring decisions.
  • Support workforce planning, including headcount and budgeting, identifying and planning for future talent needs, and continuously improving the talent brought into the organization.
  • Identify, advocate for, and implement HR best practices across business areas, including simplifying or reducing non-value-added processes.
  • Complete additional HR projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in exempt-level positions in human resources.
  • Demonstrated competence and experience across broad HR areas, including organization design, restructuring and change management, talent acquisition, employee engagement and relations, talent and organization development, performance management, compensation, and benefits.
  • Experience supporting both individual team members and leaders at multiple levels.
  • Experience supporting and driving project management initiatives.
  • Proven ability to interact with and influence all levels of an organization with confidence, building trust and rapport.
  • Ability to provide courageous and decisive guidance, including advanced team member relations.
  • Advanced interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, including presentation and facilitation experience, and a record of effectively communicating with and influencing at all levels, including giving feedback and helping leaders and team members navigate difficult situations.
  • A strong point of view with the confidence and courage to challenge assumptions when necessary, maintaining high professionalism and relationship management while pushing issues forward.

Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
