Job Description

The Human Resources Coordinator at Baker Construction Enterprises Inc provides HR departmental support with an emphasis on employment compliance and clerical coordination. This onsite role in Monroe, OH supports new-hire onboarding, contributes to audit preparation, and helps ensure company-wide HR processes are completed accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Compliance Specialist to maintain, evaluate, and resolve compliance issues
  • Assist with the creation of procedures and HR manuals
  • Assist with preparation of documentation for EEO governmental audits
  • Support coworkers with basic employment questions and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Oversee the labor law poster program
  • Assist with oversight of the company’s E-Verify and I-9 compliance function, including responding to technical or compliance questions and ensuring required follow-up
  • Ensure appropriate recordkeeping practices are followed across areas of responsibility
  • Conduct New-Hire Orientation for the Northern Region and Shared Services, ensuring new-hire paperwork is completed accurately
  • Create and coordinate shipments of new-hire packets
  • Serve as backup as needed to help ensure completion of pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and job-site specific drug testing
  • Serve as backup as needed to help ensure appropriate drug-test response procedures, including notifying affected coworkers and Regional HR Managers and ensuring compliance with the Drug Policy
  • Serve as backup as an alternate point of contact with clinics and vendors (for example, E Screen and Mid-West Toxicology)
  • Assist with award events across the various regions
  • Participate in department staff meetings
  • Provide training to coworkers on HR functions

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related HR experience and/or training, preferably with exposure to employment law
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Exceptional ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to present information in written and oral formats to all levels of coworkers
  • Ability to read and comprehend procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical processes (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, and ratios)
  • Ability to work with coworkers at all levels
  • Detail oriented and analytical approach
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data
  • Ability to make judgments aligned with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work
