Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist role supports day-to-day HR operations in a on-site capacity based in Santa Ana, California, focusing on the employee lifecycle, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and policy enforcement while ensuring alignment with federal and state employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding.
  • Administer comprehensive benefits programs, including group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness initiatives.
  • Lead benefits orientations and explain the benefits self‑enrollment process.
  • Monitor and document compliance with required and optional training, continuing education, and work assessments, such as safety and anti-harassment training, licensure, and exams.
  • Execute routine HR program tasks across compensation, benefits, and leave; address disciplinary matters; conduct investigations; support performance and talent management, recognition, and morale; and promote health and safety and development initiatives.
  • Manage new‑hire orientation, onboarding activities, and the termination process.
  • Assist with payroll-related activities as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies including EEOC, Human Rights, and employment laws.
  • Coordinate internal and external health and wellness initiatives.
  • Foster effective communication and employee involvement programs.
  • Administer the local performance review process and related employment policies and procedures.
  • Support the administration of workers’ compensation programs.
  • Utilize the HRIS to process employee changes, promotions, disciplinary actions, and related updates.
  • Handle employment inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors and refer complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Assist in investigations and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance and up-to-date reporting efforts.

Requirements

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Ability to collaborate with line management to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, and support culture change.
  • Experience in benefits administration.
  • Ability to enforce HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems is a plus.
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle employee issues in a compliant and sensitive manner.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, and time-management abilities.
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Capability to multi-task and maintain accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Spanish bilingualism is required.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting and carrying: up to 10 lbs or less and 11-20 lbs occasionally; 21-50 lbs and above not required.
  • Push and pull: up to 12 lbs or less and 13-25 lbs occasionally; 26-40 lbs and above not required.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods when working at a desk.
  • Occasional movement around the office to access filing cabinets, equipment, and other facilities.
  • Frequent use of a computer and other office productivity equipment.
  • Clear communication to convey information effectively and observe details at close range.
  • Ability to navigate and access all areas of the campus and to wear PPE, including safety glasses, as required.

Work Environment

This on-site role is performed in a typical office setting with normal conditions, which may include occasional noise. Some weekend or evening work and limited travel may be required.

Pay

Salary: USD 70,000 - 85,000 per year.

Spanish is required.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) or equivalent experience.
  • Field of study: Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least three years of human resources management experience preferred.
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or aerospace/defense environment preferred but not required.
