Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Transdev, based in Dorchester, MA and operating onsite, seeks a hands-on Human Resources Generalist to oversee core HR programs, drive recruitment and onboarding, manage benefits, maintain HRIS data, generate reports, and ensure compliance across the organization. This role offers a salary range of USD 61,750 to 77,000 per year and requires at least two years of HR experience along with a high school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Manage routine HR tasks to administer and execute programs, including recruitment and onboarding.
- Consult with management on hiring, compensation, training and development, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Create and update job descriptions as needed.
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and onboarding in an ATS, including resume screening, phone interviews, in-person interviews, and applicant communications.
- Ensure compliance with E-Verify and onboarding of new employees.
- Assist with benefits administration, leaves of absence, and workplace accommodations.
- Enter and manage data in the HRIS and handle related administrative tasks.
- Maintain accurate employee records through manual entry and audits of the database for changes such as status, pay rate, address, hires, terminations, and tax withholdings.
- Process and assist employees with unemployment claims.
- Interpret and support understanding of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure personnel records are maintained with required training, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Respond to requests for personnel records.
- Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports.
- Provide administrative support to unit management staff and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Two years of HR experience, including recruiting, selection, and/or benefits administration.
- Understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; solid presentation abilities.
- HRIS, ADP, and investigative experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Travel outside the immediate area less than 5%
- Shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
- Approximately 90% of work is indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities

- Prolonged sitting and computer use (up to 6–8 hours per day).
- Push and pull objects up to 10 pounds; lift up to 20 pounds occasionally; may bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment
