Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Christian Career invites an on-site Human Resources Generalist to support Unity Communities and affiliated ministries from Unity Village, Missouri. This role offers a yearly salary of USD 65,000 and requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational leadership, business, or a related field, together with at least five years of progressive HR experience with a strong emphasis on employee relations. The successful candidate will provide advisory support across Unity Communities, aligning governance with HR best practices while coaching leaders and boards to address people-related matters with neutrality and professionalism. The position combines strategic guidance with practical HR processes, including investigations, performance improvement planning, and documentation guidance. This is an onsite role with national travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Act as an advisory partner for ministry leaders addressing workplace and governance challenges.
- Provide structured frameworks to resolve interpersonal conflicts.
- Coach leaders on documenting incidents, applying progressive discipline, and conducting accountability conversations.
- Guide the design and rollout of performance improvement plans.
- Offer mediation tools and ready-to-use approaches ministries can implement locally.
- Advise ministries on best-practice investigation processes.
- Provide templates, checklists, and guidance for internal investigations.
- Coach leaders on conducting fair, neutral, and well-documented reviews.
- Recommend when external legal counsel or third-party investigators may be appropriate.
- Clarify distinctions between governance issues and employment matters.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of progressive HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations.
- Experience guiding leaders on workplace investigations, not necessarily serving as investigator of record.
- Experience developing performance improvement plans and documentation frameworks.
- Proven coaching or consultative experience with senior leaders.
- Strong written documentation and policy development skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and neutrality.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office environment; on-location work preferred, national travel as needed.
- Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of a computer and clear verbal communication.
- Occasional kneeling or crouching.
- Occasional travel.
- Reading and visual tasks as part of the role.
