Job Description

Troxell is hiring a Human Resources Generalist to support end-to-end people operations in Springfield, IL. This onsite role partners with managers and employees to strengthen talent management, engagement, compliance, and HR operations across day-to-day workflows.

In this position, you will contribute across recruiting, benefits and leave administration, HR data and reporting, employee relations, and policy execution, helping deliver HR services that support engagement and operational excellence.

Role Overview

The Human Resources Generalist provides HR support tied to talent management, benefits and leave administration, compliance, and employee relations. The focus includes HR initiatives and engagement efforts intended to improve employee experience and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screenings, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Schedule license classes and exams.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to define talent needs and improve the hiring process.
  • Design and help lead employee engagement initiatives, team events, and wellness programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment, questions, and life event changes.
  • Maintain HRIS records and create reports using HR data and metrics, including ACA reporting.
  • Support managers with compensation decisions within established frameworks.
  • Participate in salary surveys.
  • Assist employees with timekeeping questions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure compliance.
  • Manage leave programs (including FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation) and ensure proper documentation.
  • Support and execute HR initiatives such as performance reviews, safety programs, and policy updates.
  • Maintain I-9 files, complete EEO-1 reports, and assist with required anti-harassment training.
  • Coordinate client meeting schedules and provide follow-up recap summaries and best practice materials.
  • Create and send invoices, and assist with client programs and trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (required).
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience required; SHRM-CP/PHR strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing employee relations and coaching managers.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Pay: $55,000 - $80,000 per year
  • Full-time position
  • Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Work style: Onsite (not hybrid), with flexibility to work from home when needed
  • Travel: Minimal (as needed), central Illinois
  • Work location: In person

Minimum Experience Detail

  • Professional Human Resources (HR Title): 4 years (Required)
