Human Resources Generalist II
Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist II delivers comprehensive HR services across the employee lifecycle in Spokane, Washington, partnering with organizational leadership to maintain a Christ-centered, respectful, and legally compliant workplace culture onsite.
Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for UGM, coordinating from posting to onboarding.
- Work with department managers to define and refine precise job descriptions and hiring criteria, guiding the development of role-specific interview questions.
- Support job postings on Indeed and the UGM website to attract qualified candidates.
- Screen applications, shortlist suitable candidates, and schedule and conduct initial interviews.
- Maintain thorough documentation of interviews, and collect references and KLLP records.
- Keep the hiring team informed about candidates advancing to second interviews.
- Assist with the second interview stage, attending and conducting interviews with managers, directors, and other stakeholders.
- Partner with the hiring manager and HR staff during offers, proposing salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other relevant terms.
- Support mission-aligned hiring practices, including evaluating spiritual, cultural, and values fit with UGM.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation to convey the mission, expectations, and policies, securing first-day essentials such as system access, equipment, keys, name tag, business cards, and required trainings (Waypoint, Safety, Abuse Prevention, etc.).
- Facilitate offboarding for departing employees by gathering paperwork, scheduling exit meetings, and coordinating with the HR team.
- Maintain accurate applicant and employee data within UKG and related recruiting systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 5 years of experience as an HR generalist or in a similar role.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Commitment to UGM’s mission, values, and faith-based identity.
- Ability to balance ministry values with accountability and compliance.
- Must be a grounded and committed Christian, capable of modeling servant leadership and participating in ministry to the poor, homeless, individuals facing addiction, and those with mental health challenges.
- Active member of the body of Christ in accordance with UGM’s Statement of Faith and Distinctives, with strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and discernment rooted in Christian teaching.
- Willingness to honor leadership, chain of command, standards, and ministry objectives.
- Teachable spirit with the ability to multitask and make HR decisions aligned with UGM purposes.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent.
- Experience in nonprofit, faith-based, or human services organizations.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed work environments or ministry-based settings.
- Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
- At least one year of HR management experience is preferred.

Compensation
Hourly wage range: USD 27 to 34 per hour.

Working Conditions and Physical Factors
- Primarily indoor work requiring sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and movement between facilities on a regular basis.
