Job Description

Position overview This on site role with Prince George's County Public Schools is based in Upper Marlboro, MD and offers a salary range of USD 63,358 to 127,518 per year. Direct deposit is expected for new hires. The role focuses on educator credentialing, credential maintenance, data reporting, and credentialing related customer service, contributing to HR operations across the employment lifecycle in a high demand environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages certification services for teachers, specialists and administrators, including ongoing maintenance and renewal of credentials.
  • Reviews candidate and employee credentials and required employment documents, assesses eligibility, and provides salary placement recommendations.
  • Collects and consolidates data from multiple systems to generate accurate reports for supervisors and leadership.
  • Addresses frontline certification issues with discretion and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Supports HR division goals by performing diverse, technical and complex administrative duties that back the employment lifecycle and related functions.
  • Assists in monitoring compliance with state certification and licensing requirements during pre and post employment.
  • Troubleshoots certification inquiries and serves as a point of contact for credentialing customer service.
  • Communicates certification status of educators and administrators electronically, in writing and verbally.
  • Tracks renewal documentation and maintains certification data; notifies of impending expirations and renewal timelines.
  • Supports recruitment events and onboarding of new employees for PGCPS.
  • Prepares program materials, schedules, flyers, brochures, videos and presentations as needed.
  • Participates in team and divisional meetings to support improvements in communications, customer service and planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of human resources best practices and principles.
  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems, with Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Judgment and discretion in providing administrative and technical HR support within PGCPS.
  • Ability to collect, compile and analyze data, assemble information and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpretation and communication of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to prioritize, plan and manage multiple complex assignments in a timely manner.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and comfort using internet research, Oracle and position control technologies.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university preferred, with majors in human resources, education or business administration.
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional HR experience, including at least one year in scanning and electronic records management; credentialing experience in a collective bargaining environment preferred.

Certification requirements

  • Must possess or be eligible for the Certified Authorized Partner Associate (CAPA) designation by the Maryland State Department of Education.
  • Willingness to pursue the Certified Authorized Partner (CAP) designation is strongly preferred.

Supervisory responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands

The role entails typical office duties, including standing, walking, sitting, talking and keyboard use, with occasional reaching and bending. Visual demands include reading handwritten or typed material and focusing on screens. Reasonable accommodations are available.

Working environment

Expected to operate in a highly demanding and fast paced environment, with periods of long hours and weekends. Some travel may be required.
