Job Description

PACE Supply offers a strategic human resources leadership role with strong growth opportunities, a competitive salary, and comprehensive benefits across multi‑state operations. This onsite position in San Jose, CA partners with leaders to deliver HR programs spanning employee relations, talent acquisition, development, and compliance, with occasional travel to branches. Salary ranges from USD 120,000 to 165,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with managers and staff to address workplace concerns, interpret policies, resolve employee relations matters, and foster a positive work environment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders by understanding goals, workforce challenges, and priorities
  • Analyze HR data to detect trends and recommend policy and process improvements
  • Maintain records and generate metrics on hires, transfers, performance, absenteeism, and related data
  • Lead regular meetings with assigned branches to address issues, streamline processes, and strengthen the talent pipeline
  • Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues with thorough, objective procedures
  • Manage understaffing, disputes, terminations, and disciplinary actions
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal requirements affecting day-to-day management to minimize risk and ensure compliance
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze turnover trends, and recommend strategies to improve engagement and retention
  • Advise and train managers on best practices in employee relations and grievance handling
  • Assist in budgeting for people-related programs and monitor spending against approved budgets
  • Participate in the annual workforce planning process
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team to design job descriptions and position profiles
  • Recommend candidate sourcing strategies by region and state
  • Monitor feedback from third-party staffing partners and staffing agencies
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and managers on candidate evaluation and selection
  • Assess organizational, departmental, and individual training needs and propose development initiatives
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation programs
  • Identify and develop high-potential employees for future leadership roles in collaboration with line management
  • Partner with Total Rewards to identify compensation trends and provide data-driven recommendations for pay reviews
  • Lead annual open enrollment across all branches, departments, and divisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive HR management experience
  • 5 to 7 years of strong employee relations experience
  • Previous supervisory or people leadership experience
  • Experience supporting multi-site, multi-state operations and partnering with dispersed leaders
  • Solid working knowledge of California employment laws and regulations, with ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws
  • Experience interpreting wage and hour laws (overtime, meal and rest breaks)
  • Hands-on experience administering leave programs (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation) and managing accommodations
  • Proven experience conducting thorough workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, and other employment matters
  • Ability to coach and advise managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, conflict resolution, and terminations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to assess risk and deliver practical, business-focused HR solutions
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills across all levels
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 35 percent, including overnight travel
  • HR Business Partner experience (5–7+ years)
  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, construction supply, logistics, industrial, or retail industries
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification (SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus) is preferred

Location and travel
