Job Description
Marriott International is seeking an onsite Human Resources Manager for its Atlanta, GA property. The role oversees the on-site HR function, including recruitment, total compensation, and training and development, with a focus on delivering HR services that meet employee needs while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and procedures. The position offers a salary range of USD 68,000 to 87,000 per year and requires an associate degree with at least one year of related experience.
Job Summary
As a member of the property's HR support team, this role collaborates with HR staff to carry out the daily activities of the HR Office, including oversight of recruitment, total compensation, and training and development. The objective is to deliver HR services that align with employee needs and support business success, while maintaining compliance with laws, regulations, and operating procedures.
Candidate Profile
Educationally, a high school diploma or GED with three years of experience in human resources, management operations, or related areas is acceptable, or a two-year degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major with one year of relevant experience.
Managing Recruitment and Hiring Process
- Assists in interviewing and hiring HR team members with the appropriate skills as needed.
- Establishes and maintains contact with external recruitment sources.
- Attends job fairs and documents outreach efforts in line with HR standard operating procedures.
- Networks with local organizations and peers to source candidates for current or future openings.
- Oversees and monitors the candidate identification and selection process.
- Provides subject matter expertise to property managers regarding selection procedures.
- Partners with vendor partners to ensure effective advertisement efforts in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidate pool.
- Performs quality control on candidate identification and selection.
Administering and Educating Employee Benefits
- Collaborates with unemployment services to respond to claims and reviews provider reports for accuracy.
- Prepares, audits, and distributes unemployment claim activity reports to property management.
- Attends unemployment hearings and represents the property appropriately.
- Ensures the department has the resources needed to administer employee benefits.
Managing Employee Development
- Supports a departmental orientation program to ensure new hires receive appropriate training.
- Ensures employees are cross-trained to support daily operations.
- Utilizes available on-the-job training tools, supervises ongoing training initiatives, and conducts training as appropriate.
- Coordinates and facilitates new hire orientation to create a positive first impression and emphasize guest service in the company culture.
- Ensures attendance of all new hires and involvement of leadership in training programs.
- Collaborates with management to implement departmental orientation processes and ensure new hire training aligns with job requirements.
Maintaining Employee Relations
- Assists in maintaining effective employee communication channels on the property, including daily communications and property-wide meetings.
- Reviews progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency, ensuring supportive documentation and appropriate actions.
- Fosters an open-door policy to address employee concerns promptly.
- Directs employee issues to the Department Manager for resolution or escalates to the Director of Human Resources as needed.
- Partners with Loss Prevention to conduct employee accident investigations when necessary.
- Communicates performance expectations in line with position descriptions.
Managing Legal and Compliance Practices
- Maintains employee files with required paperwork and documentation, secured for the appropriate duration.
- Ensures compliance with procedures for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files and with privacy regulations.
- Maintains medical records in a separate, secure, confidential file.
- Facilitates drug testing processes where applicable, including random or post-accident testing.
- Communicates property rules and regulations via the employee handbook.
- Ensures safety and security policies are regularly communicated through orientation, meetings, and bulletin boards.
- Conducts periodic claims reviews with the Regional Claims office to ensure timely closures and appropriate reserve levels.
- Represents HR at the property Safety Committee and supports safety awareness to reduce accidents.
- Manages Workers' Compensation claims to ensure appropriate care and cost management.
- Oversees the selection and notification processes to ensure proper procedures are followed and applicants receive timely status updates.
