Job Description

The Human Resources Manager will help shape and sustain Shreiner Tree Care’s workforce culture in a hands-on, field-aware role. This position supports recruiting, onboarding, workforce development, compliance, coaching, and retention systems to help employees grow alongside the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute recruitment strategies to attract experienced arborists, climbers, groundsmen, PHC technicians, and support staff.
  • Build and maintain professional industry relationships.
  • Screen candidates for both technical aptitude and cultural alignment with Shreiner standards of respectful, friendly, and hardworking conduct.
  • Coordinate and conduct structured employee interviews and skills assessments, and oversee employment offers.
  • Develop and continuously improve a structured onboarding program to support safe, productive, and confident new-hire starts.
  • Ensure new field employees complete thorough orientation covering industry requirements, PPE standards, equipment operation protocols, and the Shreiner safety culture.
  • Assign mentors and define 30/60/90-day check-in milestones for all new hires.
  • Coordinate licensing, certification tracking, and required training, including pesticide applicator, CDL, ISA credentialing, and TCIA accreditation standards.
  • Cultivate a welcoming culture where new employees feel valued, informed, and positioned for long-term success.
  • Build and manage a skills development program that supports clear advancement pathways from groundsman to climber to arborist certification.
  • Partner with ISA-certified arborists and PHC techs to design internal training programs aligned with industry best practices.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to crew leaders and team members focused on communication, problem solving, and management.
  • Facilitate performance review schedules that emphasize constructive feedback, growth, and measurable outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a field-based, trades, labor-intensive, or outdoor services industry (tree care, landscaping, construction, utility, agriculture, or similar strongly preferred).
  • Experience building or significantly improving onboarding and workforce development programs.
  • Track record coaching frontline supervisors and managers through performance and employee relations situations.
  • Proven ability to build trust and credibility with both field crews and office leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, seasonal business environment.
  • Proficiency in applicant tracking and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.

Salary

USD 110,000 per yearly
