Job Description
This onsite Human Resources Specialist role supports Huck's Market across the Corporate Office, Operations, Warehouse, and Logistics in Carmi, IL, with a pay rate of USD 20 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment for designated roles, including posting, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and managing offers.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to meet staffing needs promptly and efficiently.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth, engaging start for new hires.
- Act as the main HR contact for employees and managers regarding policies and inquiries.
- Assist with investigations, resolve conflicts, and support performance discussions to foster a fair workplace culture.
- Help design and implement employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and communication strategies.
- Advise employees on benefits enrollment, eligibility, and usage.
- Administer leave of absence programs including FMLA, ADA, and other applicable policies, ensuring legal compliance.
- Support open enrollment and other benefits initiatives with the Benefits & Risk Manager.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance documentation including I-9, ACA, and EEO reporting.
- Maintain and update employee policies and handbooks as needed.
- Support the performance management process including goal setting, coaching, and reviews.
- Assist with training coordination, tracking completion, and identifying skill development opportunities.
- Contribute to succession planning and talent management strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data within HRIS systems.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports on HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, and engagement.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance HR efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of human resources experience, preferably in a retail, logistics, or corporate support environment.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
