Human Resources Specialist - Recruitment

The City of Springfield, MO is seeking an HR professional with recruitment experience to support supervisors and the Springfield Police Department in attracting and hiring candidates for sworn Police positions. This onsite role focuses on building recruitment strategies, managing candidate communications through a specialized selection process, and conducting outreach using modern recruitment platforms.

Role Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Springfield Police Department leadership to attract and hire qualified candidates for a range of sworn Police positions.
• Create, develop, and implement recruitment strategies aligned with current and future staffing needs.
• Support candidates through a specialized selection process, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely communication throughout each stage.
• Conduct and participate in outreach and recruitment efforts designed to educate, attract, and source qualified applicants.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in talent recruitment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience interviewing candidates and guiding them through structured selection processes.
• Proficiency using recruitment tools, including social media and candidate sourcing platforms.
• Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

Education, Experience, and Training

• Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Requires one year of professional experience in centralized human resources involving recruitment.
• A Master’s Degree in Human Resources or a related area may substitute for the experience requirement.
• Applicable responsible experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis, not exceeding two years, when coupled with an active PHR or SHRM-CP certification.

Preferred Certifications

• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.

Compensation and Location

Location: Springfield, MO (onsite)

Salary: USD 44,428 to 78,977 per year
