Logistics Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Join a global logistics leader where HR work directly fuels operations and strengthens the people behind the performance. This onsite Local HR Generalist role in West Jefferson, Ohio partners with management and individual contributors to manage day-to-day HR operations, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, and recruiting. You’ll contribute to a stable, people-focused culture with a clear impact on daily workflows and long-term staffing success. The role blends operational HR partnership with strategic staffing, offering a pathway to develop leadership and facilitation skills while applying modern tools to recruit and retain a motivated workforce.
Responsibilities
- Allocate 25 percent of time on the floor to stay connected with daily operations and gauge workplace sentiment
- Provide employee relations counseling and assist with investigations and issue resolution
- Assess HR policies, procedures, and practices and recommend improvements
- Collaborate with department managers to support HR responsibilities and guidance
- Offer leadership and consulting support to management to help achieve operations goals
- Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and ensure adequate coverage for volume projections
- Develop and execute staffing strategies to place the right people with the right skills
- Build a competent, empowered, and motivated workforce
- Oversee the temporary workforce vendor, ensuring quality, competitiveness, and contract terms
- Track staffing levels, turnover, absenteeism, recruiting, compensation, and promotions
- Utilize the timekeeping system to collect, store, and analyze relevant data
- Supervise payroll administration and employee benefits programs
- Deliver supervisory skills training and compliance training, plus one-on-one mentoring with Supervisors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or human resources, or equivalent work experience
- Three years of progressively responsible HR experience
- One year of recruitment experience
- Thorough knowledge of current employment laws related to recruiting, workers compensation, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity, wage and hour regulations, and benefits
- Experience with team facilitation, development, and grievance handling
- Experience working in a fiduciary capacity with confidential relationships with managers and employees
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

- Three years of progressively responsible HR experience
- One year of recruitment experience
- Strong knowledge of employment laws surrounding recruiting, workers compensation, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity, wage and hour regulations, and benefits
- Experience facilitating teams, developing talent, and handling grievances
- Experience maintaining confidentiality in fiduciary relationships with managers and employees
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
