Job Description
The Market Talent Partner and Lead Recruiter collaborates with Markel Service Inc across the US Insurance divisions to attract top talent, serve as a strategic, market-facing talent advisor, and oversee full-cycle recruitment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business leaders to define current and future talent needs and craft proactive recruitment strategies aligned with business priorities.
- Act as a market-facing talent acquisition advisor, delivering insight into competitor activity, talent trends, and market dynamics.
- Build and maintain external relationships across the E and S market, engaging industry talent, brokers, underwriters, associations, and other key market participants.
- Develop targeted sourcing strategies and pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill roles, emphasizing specialized talent.
- Provide market intelligence, talent mapping, and recommendations to support informed hiring decisions by leaders.
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, ensuring a high-quality and efficient process from intake to offer.
- Partner with HR Business Partners and internal stakeholders to align on hiring priorities, recruiting strategy, and candidate experience.
- Represent Markel externally through networking, industry events, and relationship-building activities that strengthen brand awareness and talent access.
- Track recruiting activity, pipeline health, and market data to generate insights, measure effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies related to talent acquisition.
- Travel up to 30 percent as needed.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in talent acquisition, executive search, underwriting, or recruiting, ideally within specialty insurance, E and S, or related markets.
- Proven track record of building talent pipelines and engaging passive candidates for critical, niche, or hard-to-fill roles.
- Strong understanding of the E and S insurance market, including talent trends, competitor dynamics, and key functional roles.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to establish credibility with business leaders and external talent.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems, sourcing tools, and data to inform recruiting strategies and measure effectiveness.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple searches, stakeholders, and priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Professional presence and market credibility to represent Markel effectively externally.

Certification

Pay Information
The base salary offered will reflect job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Title and salary are commensurate with skill and experience. The stated range for this role is USD 97,520 to 134,090 per year, with a potential 25 percent incentive depending on performance and eligibility.
