Senior Recruiter
Job Description
Vox Media is hiring a Senior Recruiter to help drive full-cycle hiring across a portfolio of roles supporting editorial (New York Magazine and Vox), podcast (Vox Media Podcast Network), revenue, and operations. This is a permanent, full-time, benefits-eligible role based in the New York City office.
In this position, you will manage recruiting end to end, build proactive talent pipelines, and partner closely with hiring managers and senior leaders to ensure searches run efficiently while maintaining a candidate experience that reflects well on Vox Media.
Role Overview
- Own full-cycle recruiting for intake, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offer, and close across editorial, podcast/audio, revenue, and operations roles.
- Partner with hiring managers and senior leaders to scope open roles, build hiring plans, and provide strategic guidance throughout each search.
- Build and maintain proactive, representative talent pipelines using sourcing, referrals, and passive-candidate outreach (not only inbound applications).
- Provide a high-touch candidate experience through timely communication, clear expectations, and thoughtful follow-through.
- Structure and run consistent, bias-aware interview processes, including writing job scorecards and coaching interviewers on effective and legally sound interviewing.
- Manage multiple concurrent searches with competing timelines, keeping candidates and hiring teams aligned without losing important details.
- Own offer strategy and negotiation in partnership with People leadership, balancing candidate expectations with internal equity and approved compensation bands.
- Track and report on pipeline health, time-to-fill, and other recruiting metrics, using insights to surface risks and recommend adjustments.
- Stay current on the media, journalism, and podcasting talent landscape and bring market insight back to hiring teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a strong preference for in-house recruiting and a track record for closing candidates.
- Experience recruiting editorial, creative, and audio/podcast talent.
- A focus on a positive candidate experience, supported by the ability to grow a talent network over time.
- Strong sourcing skills, including the ability to find candidates rather than waiting for applications.
- Comfort advising and constructively pushing back with hiring managers, including senior leaders, through stakeholder management.
- An approach to equity that goes beyond diverse slates, building equitable hiring processes from first outreach through final offer.
- Excellent organization to manage a busy set of requisitions without losing track of candidates or stakeholders.
- Systems experience, including comfort managing an ATS and partnering with the Head of People to support recruiting processes.
- Clear, warm, timely communication that represents Vox Media to candidates throughout the process.
- Candidates should be fans of New York Magazine, Vox, and the podcast network.
Location, Schedule, and Pay
- Location: New York, NY (onsite)
