Job Description
Based in Stanford, California, this hybrid role sits within Stanford University’s School of Engineering, delivering senior level HR support, policy interpretation, and data-informed decision support. The position coordinates HR operations within a collaborative team, balancing complex transactions with ongoing process improvements to support faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
- Process a range of compensation and benefits transactions while ensuring alignment with university policies and guidelines.
- Advise managers on basic to complex compensation and benefits questions and escalate to senior HR staff as needed.
- Answer routine disability, leave, and workers' compensation inquiries and explain applicable procedures to employees and managers; draft related communications.
- Coordinate with disability leave and workers' compensation specialists when appropriate.
- Support data entry and record retention within the HRIS/People Analytics function.
- Generate regular HR metrics reports from the HCM system to support compliance and audits; create customized reports as requested.
- Assist in communicating the annual performance appraisal process and track incoming forms; address inquiries about the program and related technology.
- Support the candidate experience in talent acquisition, including job postings, screening, interview scheduling, collecting feedback, and candidate disposition.
- Assist in coordinating staff onboarding and exit processes; liaise with central university offices as needed.
- Handle high volume HR transactions using SOPs and university guidelines for hiring, personnel changes, reclassifications, and related activities.
- Advise on documentation requirements to ensure compliance with university and legal requirements.
- Maintain personnel and HR-related files with careful attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
- May serve as a team lead, overseeing day-to-day work, scheduling, workload prioritization, onboarding new staff, and providing performance input.
- Align work with Stanford HR policies, procedures, and applicable laws at the local, state, and federal levels.

Requirements
- Associate Degree and at least 2 years of relevant HR experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education & Experience (Desired)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proficiency with Google Drive and Smartsheet or similar workflow/project management tools
- Proficiency with HRMS platforms and data analysis/reporting software
Pay Range
The expected pay range is $33.54 to $38.96 per hour.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand or walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone.
- Occasionally write by hand, bend or twist, reach above shoulders, perform fine manipulation, lift up to 10 pounds, and sort/file paperwork.
- Rarely kneel or crawl and operate foot or hand controls.
Working Conditions
- Travel on campus to schools and units as needed.
- This is a hybrid position requiring a weekly on-site presence.
