Job Description
The senior level supervisor directs TCSO recruiting and background investigations, providing strategic guidance for sworn positions and agency-wide hiring processes. The role leads complete recruitment life cycles, shapes sourcing strategies and employer branding, and builds durable talent pipelines for the sheriff's office.

Austin, Texas, on site.
Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 70,532 to 91,686.
Role Overview
This position oversees the recruitment and background investigations programs, aligning operational procedures with hiring standards and applicant suitability. It involves managing the end-to-end hiring process, coaching the recruiting team, and ensuring a positive candidate experience while maintaining fair and transparent practices across the department.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assess daily activities of Background Investigators and Recruiters.
- Assign and monitor caseloads to ensure timely and accurate investigations.
- Provide guidance on investigative procedures, hiring standards, and applicant qualifications.
- Communicate policy updates, procedural changes, and operational expectations.
- Develop investigators through coaching, training, and formal performance reviews.
- Manage full cycle recruiting, applications, and background checks for candidates, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
- Regularly participate in recruiting events with the team.
- Develop recruitment and selection policies, metrics, and reporting to promote transparent, fair, and effective hiring practices.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of background investigations prior to scheduled interviews.
- Apply advanced knowledge of recruiting platforms to attract suitable applicants.
- Consult with hiring managers to understand recruitment needs, develop sourcing strategies for diverse candidates, and prescreen candidates for qualifications.
- Create innovative recruitment strategies and establish metrics to measure success and best practices.
- Establish a transparent and merit-based recruitment policy to support effective candidate selection.
- Develop a working understanding of TCSO to quickly identify critical hiring needs.
- Build talent pipelines, particularly for positions that are frequently filled.
- Source candidates and expand networks through online sourcing, networking, and referrals.
- Implement new initiatives to increase the pipeline and raise employer brand awareness.
- Utilize social media, attend career fairs, conduct outreach, and engage with colleges to locate qualified individuals.
- Serve as the TCSO Subject Matter Expert on recruitment best practices.
- Maintain and analyze data reports and performance metrics regularly.
- Record management and related duties as assigned.

- Physical requirements include the ability to lift or carry up to 20β50 pounds occasionally, adequate vision, hearing and speech, and manual dexterity for computer and office equipment use.
- The role may require standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, reaching, stairs, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, and client/customer contact to perform essential functions.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential additional hours including weekends, nights, or holidays.
