Technical Recruiter
Job Description
Agile Defense is hiring a Technical Recruiter to support a hybrid recruiting presence from Fort Huachuca, AZ. Reporting to the VP of Talent Acquisition, this role independently drives full-cycle hiring for technical and cleared requisitions, while building clearance fluency, strengthening stakeholder trust, and using AI-assisted sourcing practices to improve efficiency and pipeline breadth.
What you’ll do
- Run the full recruiting toolkit including sourcing, screening, interviewing, negotiating, and closing within 90 days for a caseload of full-cycle requisitions spanning the technical and cleared complexity spectrum, with only light oversight from a Senior Technical Recruiter or Recruiting Lead.
- Develop real clearance fluency, starting with initial higher-tier searches and progressing to being able to explain the clearance process fully within 6 months.
- Own stakeholder relationships across your requisitions by building direct working trust with hiring managers, providing market feedback, pipeline updates, and honest guidance without needing a more senior recruiter to translate for you.
- Lead at least one defined project or initiative each year beyond your req load (for example, piloting a new sourcing channel, refining a screening guide, or improving an intake process), from proposal through completion.
- Manage required compliance tasks for your requisitions with consistent accuracy and minimal correction needed, including EEO/OFCCP, clearance documentation, and interview documentation.
- Make AI part of daily workflow by identifying and adopting at least one recurring AI-assisted efficiency, explaining how it changes day-to-day work, and applying deliberate sourcing practices to widen and diversify candidate pipelines.
Your scope and environment
You will report to the VP of Talent Acquisition and work alongside a Lead Recruiter around prioritization. The recruiting team supports DoD, Fed Civ, Homeland Security, Combatant Command, and Fourth Estate customers, and this seat typically carries 12 to 18 concurrent requisitions. Your accountability focuses on your own caseload and one owned project, with portfolio-level ownership, senior stakeholder relationships, and coaching responsibility considered the next step.
What success requires
- First 90 Days: Independently run full-cycle requisitions across the full range of complexity with only light check-ins.
- First 6 Months: Earn direct hiring manager trust and propose the small project you will own for the year.
- First 12 Months: Become a fully independent, reliable recruiter capable of handling the tactical req workload, with readiness to move toward portfolio ownership, mentoring, and senior-stakeholder responsibility associated with a Senior Technical Recruiter.
Clearance, location, and travel
- Location: Hybrid with on-site program support in Fort Huachuca, AZ
- Clearance: Must be clearable for a U.S. Secret security clearance (minimum)
Requirements

- Working knowledge of the federal clearance process, including searches up through Top Secret/SCI and polygraph-level searches.
- Evidence that hiring managers trust your judgment on their requisitions and see you as a partner, not just a processor.
- Experience proposing or improving something beyond your own req load, even if the change is small.
- Personal habits for using AI tools to work more efficiently, plus the judgment to know where automation should not touch the candidate experience.
- Active interest in building more diverse candidate pipelines, supported by specific examples of actions taken.
