Job Description

Join Marriott International, Inc in Kissimmee, Florida as a Training and Human Resources Manager. This onsite, full-time management role sits within the property's HR support staff and oversees recruitment, total compensation, and training and development. Responsibilities

  • Assist in interviewing and hiring HR team members with the appropriate skills, as needed
  • Establish and maintain contact with external recruitment sources
  • Attend job fairs and document outreach efforts in accordance with HR standard operating procedures
  • Network with local organizations (e.g., Hotel Association and peers) to source candidates for current or future openings
  • Oversee and monitor the candidate identification and selection process
  • Provide subject matter expertise to property managers regarding selection procedures
  • Partner with vendor partners to ensure effective advertisement efforts in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidate pool
  • Perform quality control on candidate identification and selection
  • Collaborate with unemployment services to respond to unemployment claims; review provider reports for accuracy and correct errors
  • Prepare, audit, and distribute unemployment claim activity reports to property management
  • Attend unemployment hearings and ensure the property is properly represented
  • Ensure the department has the resources on hand to administer HR processes
  • Support a departmental orientation program for new hires to receive the appropriate onboarding
  • Ensure employees are cross-trained to support daily operations
  • Utilize on-the-job training tools; supervise ongoing training initiatives and conduct training when appropriate
  • Coordinate and facilitate the new hire orientation program to generate a positive first impression and emphasize guest service in company culture
  • Ensure attendance by all new hires and participation of the leadership team in training programs
  • Collaborate with the management team to establish departmental orientation processes and ensure employees receive appropriate new hire training
  • Assist in maintaining effective employee communication channels on the property
  • Review progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency, ensuring supportive documentation and determining appropriate action
  • Use an open door policy to acknowledge employee problems or concerns in a timely manner
  • Ensure employee issues are referred to the Department Manager for resolution or escalated to HR leadership
  • Partner with Loss Prevention to conduct employee accident investigations as necessary
  • Communicate performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position
  • Ensure employee files contain required employment paperwork, performance management, and compensation documentation, maintained and secured as required
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files and adherence to the Privacy Act
  • Maintain medical records in a separate, secure, and confidential medical file
  • Facilitate random, reasonable-belief and post-accident drug testing where applicable
  • Communicate property rules and regulations via the employee handbook
  • Ensure safety and security policies are communicated regularly through orientation, meetings, and notices
  • Conduct periodic claims reviews with Regional Claims office to close claims promptly and maintain appropriate reserve levels
  • Represent HR at the property Safety Committee and promote workplace safety awareness
  • Manage Workers' Compensation claims to ensure appropriate care and cost management
  • Oversee the selection, non-selection, and offers processes with proper procedures and timely status notifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in human resources, management operations, or related professional area
  • Or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major; 1 year experience in human resources, management operations, or related professional area
