Job Description

The Vice President of Human Resources leads all HR and Team Member Services, shaping people strategies to support business objectives, organizational growth, operational excellence, and an exceptional team member experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the President, executive leadership, and tribal authorities on people-related matters.
  • Design and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and long-range business plans.
  • Oversee workforce planning to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Encourage accountability, engagement, diversity and inclusion, and ongoing improvement.
  • Serve as the senior management representative for labor relations and collective bargaining.
  • Collaborate with legal and operational leaders on grievance handling, arbitration preparation, negotiations, and labor strategy.
  • Advise on complex employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and performance management.
  • Ensure uniform application of policies and employment practices.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, succession planning, leadership development, and programs to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Create programs to build leadership capability and promote internal advancement.
  • Establish metrics and talent strategies to improve retention and lower turnover.
  • Manage compensation, benefits, HRIS, payroll collaboration, and member services functions.
  • Maintain competitive compensation and benefits aligned to objectives and market conditions.
  • Oversee HR compliance, records, reporting, and policy administration.
  • Champion engagement initiatives and action planning.
  • Lead recognition, communication, wellness, and overall team member experience programs.
  • Promote FIRST Values and leadership expectations across the organization.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the HR team.
  • Foster strong partnerships with department leaders across the organization.
  • Set department goals, performance standards, and accountability metrics.
  • Oversee budgets and resources for the HR department.
  • Oversee staff development and training initiatives.
  • Oversee rewards and recognition programs to maximize engagement.
  • Evaluate department staff and provide constructive performance feedback.
  • Recommend staffing levels and participate in interviewing and hiring, along with scheduling and directing work to meet business needs.
  • Define work procedures and streamline workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Minimum 7 years in a director-level role or higher within a large hospitality, gaming, resort, hotel, tribal enterprise, or unionized environment.
  • Experience supporting organizations with 1,000+ team members preferred.
  • Extensive labor relations and collective bargaining experience required.
  • Experience leading organizational change, talent development, and culture initiatives.
  • Strong grounding in employment law, labor relations, compensation and benefits, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Experience with HR technology and workforce analytics.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience in gaming, hospitality, resort, or tribal enterprises.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or an equivalent certification.
  • Experience working within a unionized workforce.
  • Experience supporting rapid growth, acquisitions, openings, or organizational transformations.
