Human Resource Assistant
Job Description
Support the people operations function with employee relations, compliance, payroll assistance, and risk/safety administration in an onsite Houston role.
Responsibilities
- Maintain employee and applicant documentation in line with governing agencies.
- Manage and track employee disciplinary actions.
- Coach, counsel, and guide managers ahead of employee disciplinary actions.
- Process Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and monitor potential charges with timely follow-through.
- Attend unemployment hearings when required.
- Assist with recruitment activities as needed, including reviewing applications and supporting interviews.
- Act as an employee relations resource.
- Administer workers’ compensation claims.
- Maintain and monitor workers’ compensation case files; follow up on open cases.
- Distribute and monitor employee performance evaluations (scheduled at three months, six months, one year, then yearly).
- Support weekly payroll processing.
- Provide support for offer/termination letters, special reports, background checks, and employment verification.
- Collect and forward supporting documents, files, and reports to requesting personnel.
- Answer routine inquiries; route non-routine items to the appropriate management team member and continuously follow up to completion.
- Support HR Management with correspondence and reports, calendar and appointment scheduling, and meeting coordination (including scheduling, reservations, travel arrangements, and presentation materials).
- Assist with expense reports, invoice coding for payment, and other clerical tasks.
- Support HR projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting and payment of Federal, State, and local business taxes and licensing requirements, including new hire reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Adhere to GHRA policies, procedures, and work directives; maintain strict confidentiality for pay and personnel information.
- Build effective working relationships across employees, managers, clients, and external parties; communicate effectively at all management levels.
- Perform duties safely, ethically, and professionally to meet business needs.
- Prepare written safety and health programs and policies.
- Identify safety training needs and coordinate safety training programs.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration / Human Resources.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and other job-related software or e-technology/cloud-based solutions.

Compensation
- USD 50,000 - 52,000 per year
