Human Resource Clerk
Job Description
EMF Corporation in Angola, Indiana is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Clerk to manage payroll records, attendance tracking, benefits administration, and periodic government reporting. This onsite role supports payroll processes and maintains accurate HR data, while serving as a reliable point of contact for staff on a range of administrative tasks. The position emphasizes precision, discretion, and timely processing within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain employee and temporary workers in the payroll system.
- Enter and update new pay rates and employee positions in computer records.
- Track and maintain deductions for taxes, insurance, loan payments, garnishments, and other miscellaneous withholdings for individual employees.
- Maintain attendance records using the point system, track vacation time, and discretionary FMLA leave.
- Manage benefits eligibility to ensure timely enrollment for insurance and 401(k) participation.
- Coordinate benefit information with the outsourced insurance provider.
- Maintain vacation records and ensure vacation time is available per the schedule.
- Maintain a schedule of performance reviews and notify plant managers and administration supervisors monthly of upcoming or overdue dates.
- Prepare filings with Circuit/District Courts and State Agencies regarding garnishments and child support withholding/payments.
- Handle periodic government reporting and EEOC reporting.
- Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing.
Requirements
- An associate’s degree or equivalent two-year college in human resources or business administration, or a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
- Experience with payroll computer data systems; Paylocity is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail, multitasking ability, and solid record-keeping skills.
- Friendly and approachable demeanor as a staff point of contact.
- Experience with employee onboarding, scheduling interviews, or general HR tasks is preferred.
- Previous office experience involving data entry, records maintenance, payroll, or reception tasks is highly valued.
