Job Description

Daybreak Foods Inc. is seeking a bilingual Human Resource Generalist to support HR and operations onsite in Lake Mills, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and screening candidates for hourly roles through diverse channels
  • Enhance local candidate sourcing by conducting area-specific research
  • Manage the hourly hiring workflow from start to finish
  • Review applications and resumes to determine eligibility
  • Conduct phone interviews with applicants who meet baseline qualifications
  • Coordinate and participate in interviews
  • Administer pre-employment screening procedures
  • Adhere to established compensation guidelines and escalate to the appropriate contact to determine pay based on role, experience, and qualifications
  • Prepare formal written offer letters for hourly hires
  • Maintain communication with applicants throughout the process
  • Oversee safety program administration and safety committee meetings
  • Review safety programs and communicate updates
  • Schedule and deliver safety training to ensure OSHA compliance
  • Coordinate and review hazard assessments and surveys
  • Coordinate with operations to keep Safety Data Sheets up to date
  • Assist with incident reporting and investigation of accidents
  • Maintain first aid supplies
  • Create incident reporting folders and circulate to operations
  • Communicate and enforce incident reporting policies and regulations
  • Maintain ongoing incident reporting tracking logs
  • Maintain tracking of EEO information
  • Enter applicant data by EEO category in the Applicant Tracking Spreadsheet
  • Conduct new hire orientations
  • Ensure new hires have required supplies and resources to perform their jobs
  • Complete all new hire processing and related paperwork
  • Complete E-Verify for every new employee
  • Support the Regional HR Manager and management team to deliver a positive employee relations experience
  • Perform onboarding follow-up reviews for hourly staff
  • Collaborate with the Regional HR Manager to develop timely solutions to employee concerns
  • Visit employees in agricultural, milling and food processing environments to understand concerns and verify corrective action and follow-up
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate payroll submissions each pay period
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in recruiting including sourcing, screening, outreach, interviewing, and coordinating pre-employment screening
  • Onboarding experience
  • Safety program administration
  • Experience with progressive discipline
  • Ability to interpret policies
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Employee relations experience
  • Experience with affirmative action and EEOC applicant tracking
  • Experience completing EEO-300 logs
  • Understanding and communicating benefits and compensation programs
  • Prior poultry industry experience preferred but not required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge of modern sourcing and recruitment methods
  • Familiarity with basic and behavioral interview techniques
  • Knowledge of progressive discipline processes
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety concepts
  • Basic knowledge of payroll and HRIS
  • Knowledge of employee benefit and compensation plans
  • Working knowledge of compensation systems
  • Working knowledge of basic office workflow concepts
  • Proficiency with computers and typical office equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Professional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
  • Ability to quickly learn and maintain a fast work pace
  • Ability to work independently
