Job Description

The Human Resources Assistant role at Meier Supply Co Inc supports benefits administration, HR records and compliance, recruiting and onboarding, HR systems and learning management, and employee communications within an office environment with the potential for a hybrid schedule after 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Process enrollments, terminations, and changes for all benefit and retirement plans, ensuring timely updates.
  • Verify the accuracy of benefits data transmitted through EDI from the HRIS to third‑party administrators.
  • Reconcile benefit billing statements and provide required documentation to brokers or TPAs.
  • Maintain electronic personnel files in alignment with federal and state employment laws.
  • Handle I‑9 documentation, E‑Verify compliance, and employment verification requests.
  • Ensure branch locations display current HR and legal postings.
  • Post job openings and coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications.
  • Conduct background checks, drug screening, and reference checks.
  • Schedule new hire orientation sessions.
  • Administer the HR support ticket system for employee inquiries and issues.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS): upload training, assign courses, track completion, and generate compliance reports.
  • Support HRIS data entry, updates, and reporting.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for general HR questions.
  • Support HR communications, announcements, and recognition initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for HR-related events and training sessions.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1–3 years of HR administrative experience is preferred; internship experience will be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS, ATS, or LMS systems is preferred.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.

Additional Information

This position is based in our corporate office in Conklin, New York, with the potential for a remote hybrid schedule after successfully completing 90 days of employment.

Salary

Starting at USD 22 per hour.
