The Human Resources Business Partner will provide strategic HR guidance with a primary focus on Yale Health within the Employee Relations team. This role supports senior leadership, oversees employee relations, talent development, and organizational change initiatives at Yale University.

Compensation
Salary range: USD 82,000 - 131,500 per year
Responsibilities
- Consult, advise, and partner with assigned client areas on a broad set of HR matters, including employee relations, compliance, compensation, performance management, labor relations, organizational and talent development, staffing, and benefits. Coordinate with specialized HR teams to craft solutions.
- Assess client needs with a solid knowledge of the designated areas and propose HR solutions and initiatives aligned to strategic business goals across all levels. Educate clients on relevant policies, procedures, practices, and the legal and labor relations implications of decisions.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned departments, collaborating with stakeholders to identify HR needs and implement immediate or longer term initiatives.
- Provide counsel on employee relations matters and manage or lead investigatory meetings; handle complaints through informal resolution or formal investigations, drafting summaries and recommending next steps.
- Facilitate dialogues between employees and management or unions. Partner with management and labor relations on labor strategy and relationships.
- Promote compliance with federal and state employment laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures.
- Gather information and work with General Counsel to formulate responses to CHRO, EEOC, and FLSA complaints.
- Assess training needs and develop or deliver training on relevant HR and policy topics.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Compensation teams as needed to support recruitment and compensation requirements.
- Partner with managers and unit leaders to implement HR programs such as Individual Development Planning, Talent Management, and Performance Management.
- Lead Talent Planning, Succession Planning, and other talent programs to support the department’s strategic goals.
- Analyze data from exit interviews, turnover, workplace surveys, and other tools to identify improvement opportunities and potential impact on culture.
- Conduct exit interviews and may participate in recruiting interviews and committees related to DEIB, culture, or training.
- Recommend workforce plans and provide solutions. Support change efforts by advising, influencing, and leading organizational design work and reviewing structure changes with the client.
- Balance client requests with university policy and union contracts to deliver feasible solutions.
- Coach and train other HR Business Partners and serve as a lead on HR related projects and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible HR roles

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a diverse organization
- Well developed organizational and interpersonal abilities, with a track record of accuracy, productivity, and timely delivery
- Knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, compensation practices, organizational design, workforce planning, and sourcing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, databases, and HRIS systems
- Ability to collaborate with leaders to drive cultural change and management practices, with excellent oral and written communication, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
